With the eye of discernment and not of judgment, see if you can read the heart and soul of the people that you meet, asking the Lord to give you a sense of the pain that they may be going through, without being fully aware of it. But you’re aware, not of the complete story, but just a spiritual sense that calls forth compassion for the other. With that gift of your compassion touching their soul, it moves them to the place of the tax collector lifting them to release and perhaps their sin. With the inner experience of relief and forgiveness, they now can allow the inner joy to come to the surface of their soul.
